Student Testimonial
"I received private voice lessons from Ms. Heymann during my high school career. The lessons were my first experience with private vocal training and I did not know what to expect. Ms. Heymann made me feel comfortable in her studio and challenged me to broaden my vocal abilities. She made sure that I was well prepared for every performance by giving me helpful tips, as well as teaching me healthy vocal techniques. Thanks to the singing foundation I received from Ms. Heymann, I am now attending High Point University on a music scholarship as a vocal performance major."

Karen Heymann has been living and performing in New York City since 2013. As a voice teacher, Ms. Heymann's goals are to help her students develop the skills necessary to be successful singing performers, including healthy vocal technique, stylistic comprehension, and the ability to communicate with an audience.  She encourages  a high level of self-awareness, a constant commitment to critical thinking, and the courage to take risks.

Ms. Heymann began teaching private voice lessons in April 2010.  She has served as a voice instructor at Greensboro Performing Arts and The Music Academy of North Carolina. In addition to working in a one-on-one capacity with her students ranging in age from 12 through 30, she frequently led joint repertoire classes for multiple voice studios. She also coached ensembles of 30-40 students in preparation for musical theater productions and presented vocal health workshops.

As a teacher member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), Ms. Heymann served as an adjudicator for NATS student competitions in 2012 and 2013. She also served as an adjudicator for the North Carolina Federation of Music Clubs state finals in 2010. As a faculty member at The Music Academy of North Carolina, Ms. Heymann adjudicated three annual voice festivals and one round of merit scholarship auditions.

Ms. Heymann's students are high-achieving young musicians, having received excellent ratings at the NC NATS auditions - in both classical and music theater categories - and superior ratings at The Music Academy Voice Festival. They have also been cast in leading roles for plays and musicals at their schools, and are members of award-winning choral ensembles.
