Karen Heymann has a passion for employing her administrative skills in order to support the arts. She is the Production Manager for Peermusic Classical, whose catalog includes the published works of Charles Ives, Lou Harrison, Arturo Márquez, John Musto, and Morten Lauridsen. Karen is responsible for the printing and distribution of all scores, and serves as the liaison to Peermusic’s sales distributor and rental agent. Karen also assists in overseeing the editorial process for both newly composed and newly engraved works in Peermusic’s catalog.
Before joining Peermusic, Karen worked for Sony/ATV Music Publishing, where she proofread, edited, and summarized music publishing agreements. She studied copyright law through continuing education coursework at the NYU School of Professional Studies. In addition to the music publishing world, Karen has previously held positions in the fields of non-profit community arts schools and higher education administration. An advocate for new American song in particular, Karen is the administrator of composer Philip Hayden’s website, which she built and continues to maintain for the distribution of his self-published works. She also produced a concert of Philip Hayden’s art songs at The National Opera Center in 2015, which featured world premiere performances by Grammy-nominated baritone Sidney Outlaw and pianist Howard Watkins, assistant conductor at the Metropolitan Opera. |
