​Karen Heymann is a versatile performer with a particular interest in new music. Chamber operas she has premiered include Kento Iwasaki's Beloved Prey at The Secret Theatre in Long Island City and George Lam's Heartbreak Express with Rhymes With Opera. Other collaborations with Rhymes With Opera include premieres of chamber works during two summers of their Pocket Opera Workshop. Karen has also premiered excerpts from a chamber musical adaptation of The Yellow Wallpaper by Sarah Taylor Ellis at 54 Below. She sang with Choral Chameleon in the sole live performance of Caroline Polachek's Drawing the Target Around the Arrow at National Sawdust.

Karen is also an active choral singer in New York City, with a love of early polyphony and chant. She has served as alto for the professional choirs at St. Catherine of Siena, St. Vincent Ferrer, and the Church of the Holy Trinity Episcopal (all on the Upper East Side).  She has also subbed with the Trinity Wall Street Chapel Choir, St. Luke in the Fields, Broadway United Church of Christ, Church of Our Savior, Congregation B'nai Jeshurun in Short Hills, and Temple Beth Abraham in Tarrytown.

Operatic roles performed include Miss Todd in The Old Maid and the Thief, Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Lisetta in Haydn’s Il mondo della luna, and Madama Rosa in Donizetti's Il campanello di notte. She has performed with Piedmont Opera, Greensboro Opera, Capitol Opera Raleigh, and the Magnolia Baroque Festival.

Karen is General Manager of Peermusic Classical, where she oversees a catalog of primarily American and Latin American music written from the early 20th century to the present day. Peermusic Classical's catalog includes works by such composers as Charles Ives, Lou Harrison, Manuel Ponce, Silvestre Revueltas, Julia Perry, Morten Lauridsen, Arturo Márquez, Derek Bermel, John Musto, Daron Hagen, Nina C. Young, and Tania León. Karen serves on the Boards of the Music Publishers Association of the United States and the Charles Ives Society.

Karen holds a Master of Music in Voice Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
